The advantages of using an air purifier are hard to overlook. Anyone who cares about the purity of the air they breathe and the overall health of household members has considered purchasing an air filter at one time or another.
When considering which room in the house it would be best to place the air purifier, it’s hard to overlook the bedroom. This is where we spend the bulk of our time when at home. The majority of which is spent sleeping. As any allergy sufferer will tell you, it can be hard to sleep when your nose is clogged up, or you’re wheezing from asthma. So, here at Freshairguide, we always advise buying the best quiet air purifier in the bedroom. Preferably as close to where you sleep as possible, so that you get the most benefit from the device.
However…If anyone wants to actually sleep, we need a near silent air purifier. Which is something not all filters are capable of. So please have a read through our reviews of some of the best quiet air purifiers around in 2020.
Top 5 Quiet Air Purifiers Comparison Table
Buying A Quiet Air Purifier For Your Bedroom
Breathing fresh air while you sleep can do wonders for fighting insomnia and feeling fresh and rested in the morning. However, all of the above is useless if you can’t fall asleep due to the loud air purifier noise.
While researching the best air filter for the bedroom, you are bound to come across such a parameter as the noise the appliance makes. Its intensity differs depending on the model and the fan settings.
When attempting to find the most silent air purifier for your bedroom, you should consider the following two factors.
1. Sleep Mode
Sleep mode is an excellent way to keep your air purifier working quietly all through the night. Usually, it involves just the press of a button. The air purifier automatically adjusts the fan to the lowest setting and dims or turns off all the lights on the unit (usually LED display, filter indicators, and the like).
Without a sleep mode, you have to adjust the fan manually. Typically such air purifiers often don’t have the option of switching the light off unfortunately – so watch out for this.
2. Noise Levels
If you are a light sleeper, each little decibel (dB) counts. What I mean is that you have to learn how many decibels are comfortable for you. Each fan setting on an air purifier produces a certain amount of noise. Usually, you can find this parameter in the manual or by reading the reviews.
To have an overall idea of the noise level a purifier produces, take a look at this table.
- 10 dBs – a pin dropping
- 20 dBs – leaves rustling
- 30 dBs – quiet library whispering
- 40 dBs – a computer working
- 50 dBs – refrigerator working/rain falling
- 60 dBs – people talking
- 70 dBs – shower working
Can you sleep when the leaves are rustling? Most likely. Can you fall asleep when people are talking? Probably not.
